Job Description

Reporting to a Manager in the COVID-19 response, the Quality Improvement Specialist will provide program performance management expertise and support in the area of quality improvement, process mapping, performance measurement and analysis.

  • Identifies quality improvement processes, methods, systems and analysis, using a best practices approach and evidence informed decision making
  • Conducts current state assessments, environmental scans, literature reviews and documents business processes and work flows for the purpose of business process redesign and program evaluations
  • Plans and coordinates projects (e.g. requirements gathering, gap-fit assessment, implementation of appropriate technology, return on investment analyses, budget monitoring)
  • Develops and implements quality assurance processes to monitor and support programs to achieve and maintain standards and to comply with legislative mandates
  • Drafts and revises related program plans, policies and procedures
  • Develops and implements communication strategies to inform stakeholders (e.g., performance measures, quality improvement initiatives, best practices and legislative changes)
  • Creates and maintains resource information for stakeholders
  • Provides expert advice on training, professional development and policy/procedure development
  • Develops and facilitates in-service training, staff orientation and staff development programs
  • Develops, implements and evaluates divisional programs and projects

 

Key Qualifications:

Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  1. A Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Quality Improvement, Health/Nursing Informatics, Health Sciences, Nursing, Health Administration) or an equivalent combination of a baccalaureate degree and extensive experience relevant to the primary duties of the position.
  2. Considerable experience leading program performance management including developing, analyzing and reporting performance measures and designing, implementing and monitoring quality improvement projects.
  3. Considerable experience documenting business processes and workflows for the purpose of improving business process design.
  4. Experience managing concurrent projects utilizing excellent organizational, planning, project management skills.
  5. Experience in the development, planning and implementation of training and education sessions.

 

You must also have:

  • Knowledge of change management.
  • Certification in performance management or quality improvement, e.g. Lean or Six Sigma methodologies,  is an asset.
  • Ability to work with quality improvement and performance management frameworks, continuous quality and process improvement practices.
  • Ability to lead and motivate workgroups to excel in an environment that fosters innovation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent consultation, facilitation, team building and conflict management skills as they apply to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with little supervision.
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office software applications (MS Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio & Word).
